찰스 시믹 Charles Simic (1938- )

유고슬라비아 태생으로 1954년 미국으로 이민하여 미국 시민이 되었다. 21세 때인 1959년에 시를 발표하기 시작하였다. 1966년 뉴욕대학교를 졸업하고 이듬 해에 첫 시집 What the Grass Says를 출간하였다. 이후에 60권 이상의 저서를 내었고 그 가운데 시집은 20여 권이 된다. 최근의 시집으로는 That Little Something (2008), My Noiseless Entourage (2005), Selected Poems: 1963-2003 (2004), The Voice at 3:00 AM: Selected Late and New Poems (2003), Night Picnic (2001), The Book of Gods and Devils (2000), and Jackstraws (1999) 등이 있다.
